Built in the 17th century, Villa Sassi is
which has become a point of reference over the centuries
reference for the personalities of each
era. Always frequented by princes,
dukes, presidents, royal families and artists,
in the course of its 400 years of life it has not
never ceased to enchant.
The history of the Villa is a small slice of Italian history. Just take a few snapshots over the centuries to realize the grandeur that has always characterized it. It is 1860 and Camillo Benso Count of Cavour strolls through the rooms and among the rows of trees in the park of the residence in search of a quiet dimension, where he can think about the future of the country. Shortly thereafter, he will become the first Prime Minister.
It was 1952 and the Turati family (owners of the Carpano brand) purchased the Villa to quickly make it the best living room of bourgeois Turin, loved by intellectuals, politicians and prominent figures such as Maria Callas, Helmut Newton and a young lawyer Agnelli.
After just over a decade, in 1966, the Aime restaurant, located inside the Villa, obtained an important recognition: the first Michelin Star. To then become, just three years later, the first 2 Michelin Star restaurant in Piedmont (among the first ten in Italy). Among the customers of those years, Presidents of the Republic, the Dukes of Kent and many prominent Italian politicians.
In the 80s, when it was already a consolidated point of reference in terms of hospitality, it became the first and only Relais & Châteaux in Piedmont. In the 2000s, it often welcomed the great names of sports or internationally renowned artists, such as U2.
Today, after a careful and meticulous conservative restoration by the current owners, specialized in the recovery of architectural values that would otherwise be lost, Villa Sassi has returned to its former splendor and is the ideal location to organize exclusive public and private events.
